CAU Library

The main CAU Library is here: Leibnizstraße 9 – Kiel. 

​

In addition, every Faculty has its own library.

​

Here you can find, in English, the opening hours, instructions about the card, loan periods, instructions to print documents and many other things.

​

There are many computers that you can use to see the books and other material available. But, there is also a room (Multimedia room) with 3 computers where you can use with flash drivers, conect to the internet and other general things.

 

It is always good to go to the tour in the library offered during the orientation week, or the first weeks, because the library is very big and it is easy to get "lost". There is also a map available, in case you need to find the specific rooms and other facilities.

 

On the left side of the page you will find "Katalogsuche" or here .

There you can type key words of the topic that you are searching for a book, article and others. The details will be shown. There is the information if it is an online resource, a book, or another type of material.

 

Read our page about softwares and connections, because we explain about the VPN. Sometimes you can not have the pdf of an article just as a common user, but if you are using the University connection or VPN, you can get free access to scientific papers and download them (when this is allowed).

 

The most famous portal is Google Scholar. Here you can type keywords and it directly directs you the source that contains the article you want. Another portal to search for literature is Web of Science.

 

Of course, always that you need help you can ask for someone in the library. There is always someone who can speak English.

Finally, starting in the Winter Semester 2016/17, the CAU card (student ID) will also be used as library card, you just need to activate it in theinformation desk at the main entrance.
