Learning German
LEKTORAT GERMAN AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE
The CAU offers through the Lektorat German as a foreign language, evening German classes for free. The classes last for 2:30 hours (usually 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.) and are held 2 times per week.
This is a great way to improve your German skills and to meet other international students!
The Lektorat has an online registration, so you can register even if you are still not in Kiel! For the WS 16/17, the registration period is from August 15th to September 15th, 2016.
After you register, you can choose either starting from the basic course or if you have some knowledge of German, you need to to make an online placement test. Some weeks later you will receive a confirmation e-mail stating your level for the semester.

You are only requested to pay for your book. The new books can be found in the book store inside the Lektorat's building or in Mensa 1 (see information about Mensa 1 here) and cost around 25€.
One book is used through two semesters, so depending on your placement level, the book could be used up to one year.
The Lektorat is Located in Leibnizstraße 4, very close to the University Library.
BUSINESS GERMAN
Open campus is an independent, regional educational cluster, supported by partners from the colleges, the economy and society (among them, CAU), mainly to get valuable contacts with regional actors and collect practical experiences.
In cooperation with the International Center, provide free German Business courses, also in the evening, once a week and lasts for one hour an a half.
The German Business classes include topics such as curriculum vitae, formal german for requesting a job, for presenting a topic, etc. You also need to purchase a book which is about 20€
