Mensa

 

Mensa is the German word for the students' canteen, place where students can eat in the University at affordable prices. In CAU, there are two possibilities:

 

• Mensa 1: Westring 385, 24118 Kiel (Close to Audimax and International Center);

• Mensa 2: Leibnizstraße, 14, 24118 Kiel (In front of Library building).

There are details about the days, price and ingredients. You will find one of the following pictures:

Which means:

• Schwein: This choice has pork meat;

• Rind: This choice has beef meat;

• Vegetarisch: This choice is vegetarian;

• Vegan: This choice is vegan;

• Alkohol: This choice has alcohol!

Food is served from 11:30am to 2pm, and after that in the Cafeteria (in both Mensa buildings) for a while.

​

There are always plates with the food to show you the meals, so you can have an idea how it is.

CAMPUS CARD

In the summer semester 2016, Kiel University will begin issuing the CAU Card, a new student ID card.

​

This card will be issued once to all students at Kiel University and then activated on a semester-wise basis. The first activation will take place in the winter semester 2016/17.

​

This card will also be used for payment in the Mensa canteens. To pay in the canteen, first you need to deposit money into the card, this can be done through cash or debit card in the machines (pictures bellow) located in both (Mensa 1 and Mensa 2). More information here.

There are 3 different prices of the meals in the Mensa: Students’ price, price for employees, price for guests. You pay the students’ price only with your campus card.
