Housing for help (Wohnen für Hilfe)

If you like to help people and are concerned about your budget, this is a perfect option for you!

The Studentenwerk has a program called “Housing for help” (Wohnen für Hilfe in German). The program works as follows:

1. Apply if you are interested and they will search for available options.

2. For each square meter of the room, you will need to help 1 hour per month the person that is hosting you, in a previously agreed activity (such as going to the grocery store, walking their dog, etc.). So, for example, if your room is 16 m2, you will help 16 hours a month.

3. No rent or a very little one is paid in exchange, mainly to cover for the services expenses (water, heating, electricity, etc.).

This is where you can find detailed information on the procedure and the contact information.
