How to get your bike

The transport system in Kiel works quite well. Nevertheless, we warmly recommend you to get a bike, since it is the best way to get around and discover the city. In summer especially, using the bike becomes a must since you can use it to quickly get to the nearest beach.

 

The city is quite friendly with bikes, therefore you shouldn’t be worried.

 

You don’t need to buy a new bike because you can find many used bikes in excellent conditions.

 

In the city you can find bike shops (Fahrrad shop), or you might also have a look on the Internet. Check Ebay-kleinenanzeigen for some good deals. A good used bike may cost around 60-80€ and if you take care of it you can re-sell it after you leave Kiel.

HANSA48

 

Twice a year there is a bike flea market at Hansa48 (in Hansastraße 48), which is the name of the independent cultural centre. There, you can also repair your own bike with tools, used spare parts and get assistance provided by the Hansa 48. Depending on the spare parts and amount of help you need, you pay a small amount of money
