If you want to be updated about all the events that are held in Kiel, we warmly recommend you to always have a look on Wasgehtinkiel.
Are you looking for daily trips or activities around the city? Check the Facebook page of the Tutors from the International Centre here. They organize many interesting events, where you can participate and meet new friends.
CINEMA
If you decide to go for a movie, there are different cinemas in Kiel. Many of them show movies in English as well, therefore you don’t need to be worried about language barriers. Moreover, you are entitled to a reduced price, if you are a student. All you need to do is to show your Studienbescheinigung (the student card).
The biggest one is CinemaxX, in Kaistrasse 54-56.
Metro-Kino im Schloßhof is the cozy one. You can find it in Holtenauer Str. 162-170.
Studio Filmtheater is another cinema in Wilhelminenstraße 10. In this cinema you can find more independent movies, therefore is worth of trying.
THEATRE
Kiel offers theatre plays as well. The Theatre (Opernhaus) is directly in the city centre, close to the City Hall (Rathaus). It is one of the old buildings of the city, although it was partially damaged during the Second World War. You can find the program of the season and buy the tickets directly on the official website.
Moreover, there is also a theatre run by students in the Sechseckbau, supported by Studentenwerk. Click here to check their initiatives.
SAILING
During the summer semester the International Centre offers a sailing program, where students have the opportunity to enjoy the University's boat; the Albertina. Check this amazing video, to get ready for the summer. Additional information you can find it on the IC webpage, here.
